What to do if you Lost your Phone in Pakistan

This article is for those who are in Pakistan and have lost their mobile phone or their mobile phone has been stolen.

Step 1 : Getting Important Information Together :

Following are the things you need to know in order to block your mobile phone.
  • 1. IMEI: It is a number(code) which is unique to every GSM mobile phone. It is usually found printed on or underneath the phone’s battery and warranty card. IMEI of any set can also be found by dialing the sequence *#06# into the phone. The IMEI number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call Authorities and instruct them to “block” the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless, regardless of whether the phone’s SIM is changed.
  • 2. Cell Phone Number: It is just the number which people use to call you, this number must have been used with that mobile, also make sure your SIM is registered on your name.
  • 3. Full Name
  • 4. National ID Card Number (NIC)
  • 5. Address and Contact Number

Step 2: Report about your Mobile Phone:

1. Online:
Complaint Form at CPLC: http://www.cplc.org.pk/imei_form.php
2. Call:
CPLC (Citizen Police Liaison Committee) – 021-5682222,6583334
Police (Rescue 15) – 15
PTA (Pakistan Telecom Authority) – 0800-25625
They will get some basic info along with the IMEI number of your lost mobile set and will request all the mobile operators to block this IMEI on their networks.
3. Fax:
Fax your complaint to CPLC at 021-5683336
4. Email:
Send an email to PTA at imei@pta.gov.pk
After providing them the required information, your IMEI number will be blocked within next 24 hours.
So these were the steps which are required to do when your mobile phone is lost or stolen.

I would better say that:

“Prevention is better than cure”.
Here are simple Tips to Avoid Losing your Phone
  1. Reduce your phone’s appeal to thieves and assist in its recovery if it is lost or stolen.
  2. Never put it down in a public place or leave it unattended. Switch to vibrate mode in circumstances where a ring tone might attract the attention of a thief.
  3. Use your phone’s security features: Your phone has security features which you can use to stop others using your phone for example, you can set a Personal Identification Number (PIN) number which must be entered before anyone can use the phone. Read your handset User Guide to find out what features your phone has and use them. Even if your phone isn’t stolen, someone might be tempted to borrow your phone and make a few expensive calls without your knowledge.
  4. So this was today’s post regarding about the most widely used technology,of course Mobile Phones.I always say to my friends, Guys always Be Updated About The Technology You Are Using.
